Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines "Voyager of the Seas" Day 1: Welcome to the Royal Suite!
Our Voyager adventure begins! The kids say "Awesome!" and "Looks more like a mall than a ship." Welcome to the Royal Suite! This is the nicest stateroom on one of the largest passenger ships in the world. In fact, when the Voyager of the Seas was launched in 1999, it was the largest passenger ship ever built, and set a whole new standard to which the cruise ship industry still aspires. Although my family is a pretty tough crowd to please, this was considered a very nice stateroom. Grandpa did have his own stateroom, which I can't believe I forgot to video for comparison. (6:09)

Day 1: Royal Suite player piano; lunch buffet and views of Miami. Day 1: Royal Suite player piano; lunch buffet and views of Miami.
Royal Suite player piano; lunch buffet and views of Miami. Gorgeous ice sculptures, food sculptures, and edibles stretching as long as a football field! This was the norm for this week. The Port of Miami at sunset was industrial yet still beautiful. (2:50)

Day 1: Voyager of the Seas initial exploration; 'abandon ship' drill; Miami Day 1: Voyager of the Seas initial exploration; 'abandon ship' drill; Miami
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines "Voyager of the Seas" initial exploration. So many interesting places to explore! The "abandon ship" drill with lots of orange life vests on deck. Sunset over Miami's skyline was much more vibrant than the camera could capture. Our first introduction to the Voyager's live music, outside the casino and in the main lobby. The Voyager's architecture had a completely different look after sunset. Our first dinner in the three-story main restaurant. (2:24)

Day 1: Three-story dining room; Paradise Island at breakfast; Pee w/ a view! Day 1: Three-story dining room; Paradise Island at breakfast; Pee w/ a view!
The three-story dining room for dinner. We were on Deck 4, "La Boheme." Below us on Deck 3 was "Carmen" and above us was "The Magic Flute." How do they change the light bulbs in that chandelier? Views of Paradise Island at breakfast, including a gratuitous attempt to look in the window of the room in which we stayed when we were last at the Atlantis resort. Then, the nicest place to pee that I have ever seen. European-style men's room with the most dramatic and changing views I have ever seen! Several times during the trip this restroom was visited, and the changing view was always spectacular. (2:03)

Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas
Nassau, The Bahamas: a brief walking tour. One of the comedy acts on the ship later joked about this port of call, saying "That was a nice street." There were basically three or four shops along the street, which repeated over and over: booze, tee shirts, diamonds, repeat. We had already been to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, and were too tired from yesterday's arrival travel to try any of the other shore excursions available in Nassau. The Voyager was only in port from 7:AM to 2:PM, and we decided not to push it on the first day. (2:17)

Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas slideshow Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas slideshow
A beautiful morning at sea, followed by our first shore excursion photos. Very colorful buildings and crafts! We spent far too much time looking for those stupid steps. I'm sure there are extraordinary resorts and private villas available on this island, but they were not visible from this street of tourist trap shops. Royal Caribbean should consider either spending more time in this port, so we can get away from "Desperate Street", past the Atlantis Resort, and find the natural beauty of this Caribbean Island. Day 2: Pools & Suite & Ship Day 2: Pools & Suite & Ship
Royal Caribbean was very good about separating kid's pools and hot tubs from adult's pools and hot tubs. For the most part, we could go in the kid's section when we wanted to, because it was never that busy. Also presented in this slideshow is more details of the master bath of the Royal Suite on one of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines best ships, the Voyager of the Seas. Then, more exploration of the captivating architecture of the ship. (2:00)

Day 2: Kids piano, with duet, in the Royal Suite of the Voyager of the Seas. Day 2: Kids piano, with duet, in the Royal Suite of the Voyager of the Seas.
Seriously, people wanted to wander in to our stateroom upon hearing the wonderful music. They assumed it was a public lounge! Nope, sorry. This video is a shameless "Daddy is so proud" video, and has little to do with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines other than it takes place in the Royal Suite on the "Voyager of the Seas." (2:25)

Day 2: First Formal Dinner Day 2: First Formal Dinner
Watch as we transform from ordinary tourists to uncomfortably suited tourists. Does anyone really enjoy bringing an extra suitcase of materials for this salute to the formality of days gone by? Maybe it's worth it, because we do look good! Royal Caribbean does put on a good formal night presentation. However, it's too dark in the dining room to photograph without the flash, and it's too bright with the flash. This is clearly one of the less impressive segments of our trip, but there is such great subject matter! (2:28)

Day 2: Evening onboard entertainment in La Scala theatre. Day 2: Evening onboard entertainment in La Scala theatre.
Royal Caribbean has not taken any shortcuts with it's stage show entertainment on the Voyager of the Seas! Very professionally done, and at the same time, very entertaining for the children. This was the second evening's offering; we were too tired for the first evening's presentation. You can see the sunken orchestra pit in the video, and at the end of the show, our Cruise Director Graham gave announcements about upcoming events. We end up in our lovely suite. (2:24)
